About TACL
The Tasmanian Abalone Council is the voice of Tasmania’s commercial wild abalone industry.
TACL represents divers, non-diving quota holders, processors and exporters. The Council supports and promotes the interests of trades, businesses and professions connected with, interested in or affected by any aspect of the abalone industry in Tasmania.
Purpose
TACL’s principal activities are to:
Protect and sustain
Protect and sustain the long-term viability of the wild abalone resource
Maintain and improve
Maintain and improve the long-term socio-economic viability of the abalone industry and its stakeholders
Advocate for members
Act as an effective advocate for members
Industry collaboration
TACL works closely and collaboratively with the Marine Resources Division of the Tasmanian Department of Natural Resources and Environment (NRE) and the Institute for Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS).
Governance
Corporate governance is central to the creation, protection and enhancement of membership value.
TACL is an ASIC-registered company limited by guarantee and operates in accordance with its Constitution. Its governance framework is designed to create value for members while maintaining accountability and risk management systems appropriate to the organisation and industry.
Communication forum
As Tasmania’s peak abalone industry body, TACL provides a forum for communication between abalone divers, abalone quota holders and abalone processors.
