About TACL

The Tasmanian Abalone Council is the peak body representing Tasmania’s commercial wild abalone industry.

TACL provides a forum for communication between abalone divers, quota holders and processors, and represents the industry in discussions with government, researchers, regulators and national other fishery and seafood bodies.

Tasmania’s abalone industry is the world’s largest wild abalone resource, supplying more than 25% of total annual global production of wild-caught product.

The industry is one of Tasmania’s most valuable wild-harvested marine resources and an important one of the state’s largest export earners.
